WindEnergy Hamburg, 22 to 25 September

Stéphane Marchand, our Operations Director, will be representing Enersynt at WindEnergy Hamburg, one of the leading meeting points for the onshore and offshore wind industry.

We see Hamburg as an opportunity to discuss the engineering challenges increasingly shaping project viability:

  • How developers can navigate increasingly complex grid connection requirements
  • Approaches to grid code compliance that reduce technical and commercial risk
  • The impact of transformer, cable and switchgear supply chain constraints on project decisions
  • How longer equipment lead times should influence electrical system architecture and procurement strategy
  • Opportunities to optimise electrical systems and avoid unnecessary CAPEX
  • The role of simulation and optimisation tools such as Rezo in evaluating design alternatives before major commitments are made
  • Integrating wind, solar and BESS assets within evolving grid and market requirements

We'll also be discussing how Rezo can help developers evaluate electrical design decisions earlier and more thoroughly. Wind & Solar Integration Workshop, Porto,
29 September to 2 October

The following week, Stephen Hardy, our Senior Electrical and Optimization Engineer, will be in Porto for the 25th Wind & Solar Integration Workshop, presenting a poster from our latest work on offshore export and inter-array system optimisation.

The paper asks a deceptively simple question: where should the offshore substation go, and does that choice change which export technology is cheapest? Using Rezo, our cloud-based optimisation platform, we evaluated the complete electrical design at every candidate substation position across a representative 2.1 GW concession, for both HVAC and HVDC export at two collection voltages, 66 and 132 kV. The result is that the cost optimal position is a different place for each technology, and within a single concession, the export system technology choice resulting in the lowest overall cost can flip depending on where the substation sits. Comparing options at a single point, the way it is usually done, can quietly select the wrong technology and leave hundreds of millions of euros on the table.
